CHAPEL HILL – Coastal Carolina defeated North Carolina 6-3 on Tuesday night in Chapel Hill. The Chants have now won eight games in a row and improve to 28-10 on the season.
Coastal jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first. Connor Owings started the scoring with a two RBI triple. He now has a 17-game hitting streak. Billy Cooke, who has reached base safely in 29 straight games, also extended his streak. He hit a single to score Owings and finished the day 2-for-5 with two RBI. Tyler Chadwick capped the scoring with an RBI double.
CCU starter Zack Hopeck pitched 4.1 innings and only allowed one earned run. He did not factor in the decision. Austin Kitchen got the win in relief. Mike Morrison earned the save.
Coastal will host region rival College of Charleston Wednesday at 6 pm.
