CONWAY (WBTW) – Coastal Carolina defeated Gardner-Webb 10-6 on Sunday afternoon at Springs Brooks Stadium. With the win, the Chants completed the series sweep of the Bulldogs.
Billy Cooke and Connor Owings each drove in three runs for Coastal.
Gardner-Webb took advantage of two walks, an error and a hit batter to score twice in the fifth to trim its deficit to three, 5-2. But Owings hit his fourth home run of the season to give Coastal a 7-2 lead in the bottom half of the inning.
Starting pitcher Tyler Poole went four plus-innings and only allowed one earned run.
The Chants have now won seven straight games and 13 of their last 15.
Coastal is back in action Tuesday. The Chants play against nationally-ranked South Carolina. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
