CONWAY (WBTW) – Baseball America ranked Coastal Carolina #23 in its 2016 Preseason Top 25 Poll. The poll was released on Monday.
The ranking marks only the second time since 2005 Coastal Carolina has made the Top 25.
Last season, the Chanticleers finished the season with a 39-21 record. Coastal also made its 14th NCAA postseason appearance. Their season ended with an 8-1 loss to top seed and sixth-ranked Texas A&M (47-12) in the regional round.
Junior Michael Paez was also honored on Monday. The starting shortstop was selected third team preseason All-American by D1Baseball.com. Last season, Paez hit .326 and slugged eight home runs with 42 RBIs,
Coastal opens the 2016 season on February 19. The Chanticleers will host Appalachian State.
