CLEMSON (AP) – Weston Wilson hit two homers and Chris Okey had a three-run shot to lead Clemson to an 11-4 victory over South Carolina on Friday night to start the three-game rivalry series.

Wilson’s first homer and Okey’s blast put Clemson (6-2) up 8-0 in the third inning and the Gamecocks (6-2) could not recover. Wilson added a three-run homer in the seventh inning to close the Tigers scoring.

Clemson starter Matthew Crownover (2-0) picked up the win, allowing four runs on six hits in five innings. Alex Schnell finished things off for the Tigers to earn his first career save.

South Carolina starter Wil Crowe (1-1) took the loss after giving up eight runs on 11 hits.

It’s the first time since 2010 that Clemson had won the opening game of the annual series.

The teams play at Greenville’s Fluor Field on Saturday.
