The City of Darlington will hold a spring Gospel Music on the Square will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 17. The free event is sponsored by the City, Darlington Police Department, First Citizens Bank, The Dairy Bar, and IGA employees.
The Rev. Morris Waymer Jr. of St. James United Methodist Church will give the opening prayer.
Performances will include the Mayo High School Gospel Choir, Southern Redeemed of Florence, Johnnie Iseman, Ronnie Anderson & Friends, Sandy Banks, Marian Richardson, Leeah Stucks of Cain Elementary School, Ty Cain, William Felder, and others.
“The purpose of this event is to bring the community together for a wonderful afternoon of celebration through music,” says Lisa Chalian-Rock, director of planning and economic development for the City and director of the Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association.
“The Square is the perfect venue for so many events, and we are trying to utilize it as much as possible to bring residents together and to bring people in from the surrounding areas to see what Darlington has to offer.”
Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair or blankets. Some vendors will be available for refreshments on site.
