MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Myrtle Beach City Council approved its co-sponsorship of the Carolina Country Music Fest Tuesday afternoon.

Thousands of country music fans will gather in Myrtle Beach for the second annual festival, scheduled for June 10-12. Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, and Jake Owen are among the artists headlining the 2016 event.

In addition to the City of Myrtle Beach’s co-sponsorship, it will provide in-kind services for the event – including policing and trash pick-up. City Spokesman Mark Kruea estimates the services amount to $59,000.

Myrtle Beach leaders also approved a resolution to declare an extraordinary event from June 3-15 around Carolina Country Music Fest. Officials say it will allow the city manager to take all steps necessary for the “preservation of public health, safety and welfare” during that time.

Carolina Country Music Fest drew an estimated 20,000 people into Myrtle Beach last year. Event organizers hope to grow the event to more than 30,000 attendees in 2016.
