CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – The Citadel’s Summerall Guards are performing in a number of parades during Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
The Summerall Guards, comprised entirely of seniors, are the silent precision drill platoon from the military college in Charleston.
The guards march in Mardi Gras parades on Friday, followed by two more this weekend.
They will also march on Tuesday during the Rex parade. The Fat Tuesday parade is the climax of the carnival season before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.
