Child abuse report made against Conway woman within hours of jail release

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A Conway woman was arrested more than seven months after giving birth to a baby who tested positive for drugs, according to Horry County Police.

An incident report from Horry County Police documents how a worker from the Department of Social Services informed police that a child born to Amisha Nichole Eller, 27, of Conway, tested positive for cannabinoids and opiates July 16, 2015. Eller had just been released from jail the morning a police investigation was initiated for possible child abuse, according to the report.

Eller had served nearly three weeks in jail for charges of failure to appear, contempt of family court and violation of probation, from mid July through August 7, 2015. DSS reported the possible child abuse by Eller to police approximately one and a half hours after she was released from jail Aug. 7.

Eller was arrested Thursday afternoon and booked in to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 4:21 p.m. on one charge of unlawful neglect of a child. The infant was placed in foster care, according to the police report.
