CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. — A Charleston County Sheriff’s Deptuy reached out to country singer and Charleston native, Darius Rucker on Facebook yesterday- saying he heard the singer had made comments about law enforcement that he found offensive.

The deputy reached out to Rucker on Facebook to tell him his thoughts:

The deputy then corrected his initial post to include that Rucker’s comments were paraphrased and said Rucker’s comments were to “stop shooting unarmed people” and that Rucker made no mention of people of color.

Rucker replied on Facebook to the deputy acknowledging that his comments were misconstrued and that he has the “utmost respect” for law enforcement officers.
