Changes continue with reopening of Fred Nash Boulevard

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Fred Nash Boulevard at Farrow Parkway reopened to through traffic Monday morning.

After a three month closure to allow for contractors to install underground utilities and build a new traffic circle, Fred Nash Boulevard reopened at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning. City officials say landscaping and lighting along the new road are still to come, but the traffic circle has been completed and Fred Nash Boulevard is open to traffic at Farrow Parkway.

Another change taking place near the Fred Nash reopening is the permanent closure of the median crossover on the 17 Bypass at Shetland Drive. South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) maintenance forces will be removing the median crossover to improve safety at the former intersection.

Once the median is removed, access to/from 17 Bypass will be right in/right out only. Currently, there are temporary barricades at the site. This work will make the changes permanent.

Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling in the work zone to protect themselves and highway workers.
