The public is invited to celebrate Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital’s nursing heroes at an open house Wednesday, May 6.
From 11 a.m.-2 p.m., nurses will hold an open house for the community on the first floor of the hospital. The event, which celebrates Tidelands Waccamaw’s Pathway to Excellence award, will feature displays focusing on patient education and safety, from nutritional needs to rehabilitation education. The exhibits are part of Tidelands Waccamaw nurses’ Shared Governance initiatives, which focus on every aspect of patient care.
Prizes will be awarded, and lunch will be awarded for free.
Nearly 340 nurses work at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in roles ranging from bedside care and administrative management to community health outreach and education.
Awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a division of the American Nurses Association, the Pathway to Excellence designation recognizes Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital as one of the best hospitals in the nation for nurses to work and excel.
The designation is awarded for three years and is renewable after a review by the ANCC.
To earn the Pathway to Excellence distinction, an organization must successfully undergo a thorough review process that documents foundational quality initiatives for creating a positive work environment — as defined by nurses and supported by research. These initiatives must be present in the facility’s practices, policies, and culture. Nurses in the organization verify the presence of the criteria in the organization through participation in a completely confidential online survey.
