CCU tops NC State 4-0 in weather-delayed finish

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – Alex Cunningham struck out six in five innings and Coastal Carolina beat North Carolina State 4-0 to reach the championship round of the Raleigh Regional.

The game was suspended in the ninth inning Saturday night because of lightning and heavy rain and was completed Sunday.

Zach Remillard and Seth Lancaster drove in runs in a two-run eighth to back Cunningham and reliever Mike Morrison for the second-seeded Chanticleers (46-15).

The top-seeded Wolfpack (36-21) had four hits after rolling up 13 runs against Navy.

That dropped N.C. State into a rematch with the fourth-seeded Midshipmen in a Sunday elimination game.

G.K. Young’s bases-loaded single to left in the first scored Anthony Marks. Remillard added an insurance run in the eighth with an RBI double and came around to score on Lancaster’s single.

Coastal Carolina led 3-0 when the game was suspended. Remillard added an RBI single when the game resumed Sunday.
