CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Coastal Carolina University leaders plan to break ground on the school’s newest academic building Friday afternoon.
A groundbreaking for the three-story academic and classroom building will be held Friday at 2 p.m.
The 52,000 square foot building will be constructed on Chanticleer Drive East, next to the Wall College of Business and Brittain Hall. The cost of construction is estimated at $18 million, according to the university.
Coastal Carolina University officials say the construction process will take approximately 16 months. The university hopes to have the majority of construction completed by May 2017.
The academic building will include about 60 faculty and staff offices, 16 classrooms, a “grab and go” restaurant and 1,800 square foot data center, according to the university’s website. In addition to the new building, additional on-campus parking will be built.
