CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Three Coastal Carolina University students have been restricted from campus following their arrests for strong armed robbery Tuesday.

According to an incident report from Coastal Carolina University Police Department, officers were called to the guard post at University Place around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The victim told police that he asked a group of guys for a ride home after going to a party in Beaver Creek in the College Park neighborhood.

The driver of the pick-up truck told the victim the ride would cost $5, so the victim asked the driver to take him to the gas station across the street from Monarch Apartments so he could get change for a $20, the report states. The victim then gave the driver $5 and rode in the back of the truck with two other males.

When the truck pulled up to the victim’s destination, at least three black males jumped out of the truck and surrounded the victim, the report says. The men stole the victim’s wallet that contained $15 cash along with other items, but the victim tried to fight back, he explained to police. The victim was able to tear off the necklace of one of the attackers.

Police were able to retrieve most of the items stolen from the victim when they located the suspects. Police arrested Shanton Coslo Ferguson, 18, of Conway, La’Darrius Tyrese Holloway, 17, and Brandon Kyng Sutton, 18, both of Andrews. According to the police report, officer recovered a Georgetown Kraft Credit Union Debit Card at the scene of the attack belonging to Sutton.

Ferguson, Holloway, and Sutton are each charged with one count of strong armed robbery. Each man was granted a $1,000 bond, and as of Wednesday afternoon, all three remain in J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
