Conway, SC (WBTW) – Coastal Carolina head men’s basketball coach Cliff Ellis has released the 2018-19 basketball schedule.
This season’s schedule will see the Chanticleers play 30 games with 13 of those games being played at home on the HTC Center court. The Chants will play the other 17 games on the road, with three of those coming in the Northern Kentucky Men’s Basketball Tournament.
In collaboration with the release of the 2018-19 schedule, men’s basketball season tickets are now on sale for the upcoming 2018-19 season. There is a new pricing model for men’s basketball season tickets as every seat in the HTC Center is now $175 for all 13 home games. CCU will open play at home this season when they host Ferrum College on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
The Chants will then begin a five-game stretch with all games being on the road. The road stretch tips off with a trip to Buies Creek, N.C. where CCU will face former Big South rival Campbell on Nov. 9. The road swing continues with a game at Tulane on Nov. 13.
Following the trip to New Orleans, CCU will head to Highland Heights, Ky., where they will face three teams at the Northern Kentucky Men’s Basketball Tournament. The first day of action will have the Chants facing Manhattan (Nov. 16). CCU’s second game of the tournament will come against another former Big South rival in UNC Asheville (Nov. 17). The final game of the tourney will be against host Northern Kentucky (Nov. 18), a team which won 22 games last season.
CCU will return home for one game on Nov. 20 to host Methodist University before returning to the road for a trip down to Columbia to face the Gamecocks of South Carolina. It is the second-consecutive season CCU has played USC in Columbia.
After another home game against Hampton (Dec. 5), CCU will head to Spartanburg to face Wofford (Dec. 9). The end of the pre-conference portion of the schedule will come with a home game versus North Carolina Central (Dec. 16) and a road trip to College of Charleston (Dec. 21).
The Chanticleers will begin their third season of Sun Belt play on the road at Troy (Jan. 3) and South Alabama (Jan. 5).
CCU will host a season-long three-consecutive home games beginning with Texas State on Jan. 10. UT-Arlington (Jan. 12) and Appalachian State (Jan. 19) will make up the other two home games.
Coastal’s second conference road trip of the season will take place in the state of Arkansas, where CCU will face Little Rock (Jan. 24) and Arkansas State (Jan. 26).
ULM will visit CCU on Jan. 31, while Louisiana will be in the HTC Center on Feb. 2. Following those home games, CCU will set out on its three-game conference road trip. The first two games will be in Texas where the Chants will face UT-Arlington on Feb. 7 and then Texas State on Feb. 9. The final game of the trip will be on Feb. 16 at Appalachian State.
CCU will play four of its final six games of the regular season at home. Georgia Southern (Feb. 21) and Georgia State (Feb. 23) will visit Conway before CCU hits the road for the final time during the regular season.
On Feb. 28, CCU will play at Louisiana and then turn around to play at ULM on March 2. CCU’s final home games of the regular season will come against South Alabama (March 7) and Troy (March 9).
This season the Sun Belt has adopted a mirror schedule with the league’s women’s basketball programs meaning there are no longer conference doubleheaders. All conference games at the HTC Center will be played at 7 p.m. on Thursday nights and 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoons.
The 2019 Sun Belt Men’s Basketball Championship will run March 12-17 at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, La. Only the top 10 teams in the conference make the championship tournament. Tournament play will begin with a first round of games played between the 7-10 teams at campus sites with the higher seeds hosting. The two winners advance to New Orleans where the final eight teams will play. Once the games begin in New Orleans, the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will receive byes to the semifinals and the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will receive byes to the quarterfinals.
All fans will be able to come out and meet the 2018-19 Chanticleers and participate in special games at Hoopla which will be held at the HTC Center Thursday, Nov. 1.
