CCU honors Tolbert at Homecoming

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) – Coastal Carolina honored former football player Mike Tolbert during the Chants game against Central Connecticut State on Saturday.

Tolbert finished his four-year career at Coastal with 303 rushing attempts for 1,670 yards and zero fumbles, but he went undrafted in 2008. He later signed with the Chargers before becoming a member of the Carolina Panthers in 2011. The fullback played in the Super Bowl last year, becoming the first Chanticleer (along with Josh Norman) to do so.

Tolbert says he’s disappointed the way Carolina’s season has gone this year but he’s still hopeful about making the playoffs.

“A couple of years ago we started 3 and 8 and still won, we won our division,” Tolbert said. “So anything is possible, we still have a lot of football left and we’re ready to go.”
