CONWAY – Morgan Phillips and Bradley Jones each drove in two as the College of Charleston beat Coastal Carolina 8-3 Tuesday in a battle of ranked teams.
Chase Henry struck out three in 1 1/3 innings to hold off a late rally. One of his strikeouts came with the bases loaded in the eighth.
No. 22 College of Charleston (25-8) scored three in the second inning including a two-run blast from Blake Butler to take a 3-1 lead. The Cougars never trailed after that.
Butler went 2-for-5. Phillips and Ryan Brown also had two hits for College of Charleston.
Zach Remillard drove in two to lead the No. 18 Chanticleers (26-10). Anthony Marks and Connor Owings each had two hits.
