A student group at Coastal Carolina University held a conference to help women enter careers in national security and intelligence.
The two-day conference started on Saturday and was open to the entire community. Almost 200 people participated in the event.
The student group Women in Intelligence and National Security invited specialists from several government agencies, including the FBI, NSA, and CIA, to speak on various panels. This was the second year of the conference.
Organizers said a professor helped start the conference after he noticed most of the students majoring in intelligence and national security studies were men.
“We want to push equality. We want to push women into powerful and empowering positions,” said co-founder Antigua Clyburn. “We want to make sure each and every woman feels like they can do anything,” she said.”
