CONWAY – Coastal Carolina scored four runs in the first inning and four in the fourth to secure a 9-5 win over the College of Charleston Wednesday for their ninth straight win.

The win gives the Chanticleers (28-10) a season split with their Lowcountry rivals. Coastal Carolina has won 16 of its last 17 and 22 of its last 25 overall.

Connor Owings went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs to extend his hitting streak to 18 games. Billy Cooke, who went 2-for-4, has reached base safely in 30 straight games.

Andrew Beckwith (6-1) pitched the final six innings to get the win. He scattered six hits with no walks and four strikeouts. He allowed three runs thanks to three CCU errors. All five of Charleston’s runs were unearned.
