CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The Coastal Carolina Baseball team hasn’t taken a break from the field yet.
This week, the team is hosting a baseball camp for kids in our area, and it is sold out.
Tuesday, kids from the Grand Strand and Pee Dee were at Springs Brooks Stadium on CCU’s campus.
CCU star Andrew Beckwith says it’s an event the players enjoy just as much as the kids, and he says the team has been overwhelmed with support from the community.
“I don’t know how other schools are, but I feel like we’re a family school. We love our fans and we really do get personal with them. You see people out in Conway that you rarely see but they know who you are and we know who they are just because of camps or you see them at the grocery store. It means a lot to them and it means a lot to us,” said Beckwith.
The players took time teaching the kids different skills at stations and signed a few autographs.“The kids are probably the most fun part because they really look up to you, and they want to be in your position someday. So, it’s a special moment to be able to talk with all of the kids,” said CCU star Zach Remmilard.
Players say they had more people sign up for this camp than they’ve had in the past, and to that they credit the new title and growth of the school.
