FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A Florence man has died following an incident at a Johnson Controls facility in Florence Tuesday morning.
Billy Hatchell with Florence County EMS says the man was working on a furnace when he was crushed by a machine at the battery recycling plant Tuesday. Hatchell was unsure what type of machine fell on the victim or what may have caused the machine to fall.
Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken has identified the victim as Glen Lide, 51, of Florence.
Lide was transported to McLeod Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The coroner’s office reports Lide died as a result of chest trauma due to mechanical compression.
