MYRTLE BEACH, SC-    Drivers headed to Carolina Country Music Fest this weekend are going to want to bring some cash.

The price of parking was a shock to some people who didn’t realize they’d be emptying their wallet before stepping foot  inside the concert. The festival’s main lot charges $60/person for a three day pass and $20/person for a daily pass.

“We’ve already paid a couple hundred for tickets, so it’s a little crazy,” said festival goer Lauren Slomka .

Palmetto Event Production President Amie Lee said the price for parking is reasonable.

“There’s a lot of expenses that go into making this operational, motor coaches, staffing, signage,” said Lee.

Caitlin Brock drove to the concert Friday with 4 family members.

“We paid $250” stated Brock.

The amount might sound expensive and the parking lot isn’t exactly close to the festival. The parking lot is located on the former Myrtle Square Mall site, about 1.5 miles away. However, Brock said the distance helps avoid traffic.

“You don’t have to worry about all of the traffic down there, all of the pedestrians,” she said.

The price to park also includes a shuttle, which starts transporting people at noon and stops at midnight.

“This way you don’t have to worry about finding a parking space downtown,” said Lee. “You can come here, park, get on the shuttle and that’s one logistic already done and you don’t have to worry about.”

The Myrtle Square Mall lot consists of over 1900 spaces, according to Lee. News 13 spotted several other private parking lots surrounding the festival, charging various fees from $25-$35 per day.
