LUMBERTON (WBTW) – Investigators are hoping witnesses will come forward with information after a car was found riddled with bullet holes in Lumberton.

Investigators say it happened Tuesday night around 11:55 at Meadowview Apartments.

Officers in Lumberton were dispatched to the apartment complex for a shots fired call.

When they arrived, they found a 2013 Chevy Malibu shot up with multiple bullet holes.

The car was still running but nobody was inside.

Officers found a number of shell casings nearby, according to a news release.

Police interviewed neighbors Tuesday night and again this morning.

Police say one person came forward today and identified himself as the only person in the vehicle, but said he was not inside the car when it was hit by the bullets.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Detective Paula McMillan at the Lumberton Police Department at 910-671-3845.
