LITTLE RIVER, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police report the suspects believed to be involved in the armed robbery of a Little River pawn shop have been caught in North Carolina.
Krystal Dotson with the Horry County Police Department says the two armed robbers arrested in Brunswick County also match the description of two suspects who also committed a robbery at a store in Little River and snatched a purse at BB&T bank in the area.
Both the second store robbery and the purse snatching incident happened after the Stateline pawn shop robbery, Dotson says.
Officers responded to the scene of an armed robbery at Stateline Pawn Shop, located at 2229 Highway 17, Friday morning, according to the department’s Twitter account.
Reports say the man entered the pawn shop and asked to see a handgun. After the worker removed the gun from the case, the suspect started to leave the store with the gun still in his hand. The employee followed the man out and struggled with him to get the gun back. A witness was able to get the stolen gun realized the suspect had a second gun. The struggle stopped and the employee let go of the suspect when the man pointed a gun at the employee’s head, the report says. As the suspect ran across the parking lot, the employee told police the suspect fired shots into the air.
Another police report filed in reference to a larceny says officers were patrolling the area for the pawn shop robbery suspects when a call about another robbery came in. According to the report, the officer responded to the BB&T in Longs about a victim who was using the ATM when a person came up behind them and yanked their purse off their left arm.
A third police report was filed about an armed robbery that happened at Dasha’s All Natural Hair Salon on East Highway 90. Horry County police say a man entered the business and robbed the owner of $392. The report says the suspect car left in the direction of North Carolina and before leaving the scene, a female in the car threw a handbag and purse out of the car. The items found in the parking lot were found to belong to the victim of the purse snatching at the BB&T Bank.
Within an hour of Horry County Police reporting the armed robbery, the suspects were taken into custody in Brunswick County, according to a Tweet from the department.
Emily Flax with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as Zatario Jarod Stewart and Cquila Isadora Singleton, both of Charlotte.
