SURFSIDE, S.C. (WBTW)-Most kids are out of school for the summer and it’s important to remind kids how to stay safe. Camping World has partnered with Operation KidSafe as an extra measure to protect kids.
Around 2,000 kids disappear every single day in the United States and that’s why camping world wanted to host the event.
Thursday through Sunday parents or guardians can bring kids to Camping World to be fingerprinted and have their picture taken. Camping World employees will not ask for any personal information, they simply do the prints and photos and give it to you on a bio card.
From there, parents can hold onto the card and if anything at all goes on with your child, it’s easily accessible to hand over to police.The event is completely free and employees here want as many kids to come out as possible.
“It’s getting to be summer time, it’s going to be so busy here. You see a lot of kids walking around, it’s easy for them to get misguided or picked up. We don’t want to scare anybody but we just want to promote it in a nice way and kind of teach the kids some tips on safety,” said Kaitlin Jordan, Camping World business development manager.
Employees will be in on Thursday at 10 a.m. and will stay until 6 p.m.
