PAMPLICO – Al Calcutt is leaving Hannah-Pamplico after one season as the school’s football coach and athletics director.

Calcutt announced the decision Tuesday. He’s leaving to become an assistant coach at Johnsonville, which is closer to his home. He lived about 25 miles from Hannah-Pamplico High School while serving there.

Calcutt has 20 total years of coaching experience including stints as a head coach at Georgetown, Creek Bridge and Hannah-Pamplico. Before joining the Red Raiders, he served as the athletics director and offensive coordinator at Carvers Bay.

Hannah-Pamplico was one of the most improved teams in the Eastern Carolina last year under his leadership. The Red Raiders will now search for a new head coach for the fourth time in as many seasons.
