MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – More than 350 people came out for the unveiling of a new memorial for children and families killed in the holocaust in Myrtle Beach Sunday.

The Butterfly Memorial honors the one-and-a-half million children killed in World War II.

The idea for the memorial grew out of a local social studies class project that collected more than one-million paper butterflies.

Each one symbolized the children who died in the holocaust.
