HARTSVILLE, SC – On Friday March 25, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm families of all sizes are invited to the Durant Children’s Center at 510 West Carolina Avenue in Hartsville, SC for the 6th Annual Bunny Hop.

In partnership with the Hartville Police Department, the Department of Juvenile Justice and Guardian ad Litem, Durant Children’s Center staff created the event to offer families and children a chance to enjoy the start of Spring with a free, fun event featuring live bunnies to pet, photos with the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt, face painting, coloring crafts, games and snacks.

A program of the Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault, Durant Children’s Center is a multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment center for families with children who have been abused or neglected. Known as “The House Where Healing Begins,” Durant Children’s Center began providing services to the seven counties of the Pee Dee in 1994. In order to provide greater access to more families, the Fourth Judicial Circuit Satellite Center in Darlington County opened in 2009.

Confidential services through the Durant Children’s Center include forensic interviews, medical examinations in cases of suspected abuse or neglect, clinical evaluation and therapy, court accompaniment, family advocacy, parenting education and support, multidisciplinary case review and the abuse prevention training Stewards of Children© offered at low cost to parents and youth oriented organizations.

The Bunny Hop provides an opportunity for all families to play together safely and is made possible in part by support from IGA, Bi-Lo, Pet Lover’s Warehouse, and CJ’s Cakes and Catering.
