CONWAY, SC (WBTW)- Monday afternoon, the Horry County School District heard an update from Robbie Ferris, who represents First Floor Energy Positive, the company that’s building the five new schools.

No significant developments occurred in the meeting, but afterwards, reporters followed Ferris in an attempt to talk to him. Ferris typically takes questions after the Horry County Schools Facilities Committee meetings.

Ferris was asked questions about records dealing with construction of the five new schools. The district recently asked Ferris for a copy of some contracts. Documents obtained by News13 show he refused to turn those over and says he doesn’t have them.

“This is very inappropriate for you to track me down like this,” said Ferris, after the public meeting. Ferris would not answer questions and then took out his phone, started recording the reporters and asked us to repeat the questions.

“You won’t answer my questions. You’re being evasive. You’re not being very transparent are you?” he said while recording the members of local media outlets.

Ferris recently hired a public relations firm to handle the school construction project. While he refused to answer questions on Monday, he suggested the media wasn’t respectful by trying to talk to him instead of a public relations company. There were no representatives from the PR firm present at the meeting Monday. After the school board meeting, Chairman Joe DeFeo said the school board is going to reach out to an outside law firm to review the current contract situation.

Ferris did say our questions would be eventually answered.
