NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) A brush fire has closed a portion of Highway 31 in North Myrtle Beach.

North Myrtle Beach spokesman Pat Dowling said the fire is on the north bound side of 31 just prior to the exit to Robert Edge Parkway.  He says traffic in the north bound lanes is down to just one lane as firefighters are working in the area.

Dowling said the fire is about 100-200 yards long and about 20 feet wide.  There are trees and a storm water retention lake in the area as well but no structures are threatened.

News13 has a crew on the scene and will bring you more details as they become available.
