DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – The school year has ended in Darlington County, but News13 found Brunson Dargan Elementary School students back in the classroom.
Wednesday, teachers and students, along with Darlington Police and Fire department officials, rolled up their sleeves to give the school’s media center a fresh coat of paint.
School officials say they want to give the area a new look before next school year starts.
“It’s just a very dull color. It’s been in here for at least 8 years I think, so it definitely time for a change. To kind of brighten things up especially with the new direction that we are heading in for next year,” said Mary Beth Grice, Media Specialist at the school.
“You know, painting the library I don’t know how much it costs but it would be a lot more expensive than having us do it. Is it going to be perfect? Absolutely not, but it’s going to get repainted. It’s going to be a nice as we can make it,” added Darlington Police Chief Danny Watson.
The plan is to finish working Thursday.
