A South Carolina mom of 3 small children lost her home and all possessions after her boyfriend burned down their house, deputies say.
The incident happened last night around 6 pm at a home in the 4000 block of Livingwood Drive in Wedgefield, said Sumter County Sheriff’s Officials.
Brandon Cory Dowless, age 24, eluded authorities for a day and was taken into custody Friday evening by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies said.
Dowless faces arson charges after a fire destroyed the home just after 6 p.m. Thursday, Sumter Deputies said.
He was taken into custody without incident around 8 p.m. Friday, and transported to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center, where he will await a bond hearing.
Meanwhile, Teal Hope Leviner, Dowless’ girlfriend, is dealing with the loss of the home, which happened while she and her children were not there.
Leviner told authorities that she and Dowless had been arguing all day before the blaze and that he threatened to burn down the house, WIS-TV reported.
“I’ve never had anything like this happen,” Leviner told the TV station.
Leviner has since set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money after everything burned in the fire.
The investigation into Thursday’s incident continues, and more charges are possible.
If convicted of his current charge, Dowless faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in jail.
