TUSCON, AZ  — A border crossing arrest in Arizona last Friday put a new meaning in the phrase “secret ingredient.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say a man is in custody after attempting to smuggle methamphetamine across the border in packs of hollowed-out tortillas.

The 62-year-old man from Nogales, Arizona, was stopped at the Morley Pedestrian Crossing when officers referred him for further inspection. Officers working with a narcotics-detection canine discovered three pounds of meth inside the packages of tortillas. The man was turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
