Bones found in Myrtle Beach lot those of missing man

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police were called to a wooded lot just outside Myrtle Beach city limits for the discovery of human remains.

According to Lt. Raul Denis with Horry County Police, officers responded to a call of the bones being found off of Rodeo Drive at 8 a.m. Thursday morning. Responding officers confirmed the bones appeared to be human and detectives and crime scene agents were dispatched to investigate further.

Coroner Robert Edge says an autopsy performed Friday morning identified the remains as Timothy Buckley, a 51-year-old Myrtle Beach man who was reported missing roughly six weeks ago.

According to Horry County Police, Buckley was last seen in the Springmaid Pier area of Myrtle Beach, on Sept. 28, and was reported missing by his family around that time.

Edge says Buckley was identified through dental records, and an exact cause of death cannot be released at this time. Edge does confirm, however, that Buckley’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
