CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Dive crews say they have recovered the body of a missing swimmer at Pitts Landing on the Little Pee Dee River in Conway.
Horry County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Brian Van Aernem says the swimmer went under at 3:18pm.
Van Aernum says crews with South Carolina Department of Natural Resources assisted with the search.
Horry County Police blocked off access to Pitts Landing as crews continue to look for the missing swimmer.
Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler identified the victim as 19-year-old Billy Ray Burchell of Fredericksburg, Va.
Horry County Police are investigating the incident.
