A body was found near railroad tracks in Georgetown on Tuesday.

The Georgetown Police Department responded to the area of N. Hazard Street and Prince Street around 2 p.m. in reference to a body in a ditch beside the railroad tracks, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. The body was recovered with help from the Georgetown City Fire Department and the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office. 

The body was taken to Georgetown Memorial Hospital, the post says. The cause of death is unclassified and an autopsy is expected to be completed on Wednesday. 

The person’s identity is being withheld pending notification of a next of kin.
