GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) – The Georgetown Police Department identifies the body discovered in the Black River Saturday afternoon as that of missing 32-year-old Leon Harrison Jr.
Harrison was reported missing to the Georgetown Police Department on March 9. The case is currently being treated as a homicide, police report. Georgetown police are working with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner’s office on the case.
According to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer, Jason Leslie, deputies responded to the area of Colonel Cole Drive around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, when people spotted a body in the river and called 911.Georgetown Police are asking anyone with any information concerning this case to contact Investigator Bert Powell at (843) 545-4332, or call the GPD Tip Line at (843) 545-4400.
Deputy Coroner Paulette Radcliffe says the cause of death is pending at this time.
