LITTLE RIVER, SC (WBTW) – Thousands of people took to the waterfront in Little River for the 35th annual World Famous Blue Crab Festival this weekend.

People and vendors lined the streets by the waterfront to get a taste of local food.

The event also featured music, games for the kids, and 275 vendors of all kinds.

“We like to look we like to see what other people are buying and it’s a wonderful day out, couldn’t be any better,” said Mary Schumaker, an attendee.

The nice weather helped bring in big crowd to enjoy everything the festival had to offer.

“Crabs, shrimp, the shrimp burgers are awesome,” said Schumaker.

Organizers said more than 20,000 people came out Saturday, a record number.

“Its more crowded than it was the year before when we came, much more. I can see the people and the parking,” said Schumaker.

Sunday’s crowd was about 5,000 fewer people than the day before, but it was still tough to find a spot without walking or a wait.

“Parking is a problem we realize that. We are working on some parking options to get more people down here,” said Hubert Bullard the festival director.

Bullard said 8 shuttle buses were in service for parking on Highway 17 and water taxi’s were used for the second time this year.

Bullard said he would like to expand the ways people get to the gates further next year.
