FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Due to the heavy rain brought in by Tropical Storm Hermine, Black Creek has risen much faster than previously forecast by the National Weather Service.
Andrew Golden, spokesperson for Florence County Emergency Management says the creek is projected to crest to 12.5 feet by Sunday morning.
Golden says the creek was at 6.11 feet Friday night but is projected to move into a minor flood stage of 10 feet by Saturday night. At 12.5 feet, the measurement projected for Sunday, floodwaters will impact Creekside Drive and East Black Creek Road with water nearing a few homes. Homes along East Black Creek Road will become isolated and residents must use boats to exit the neighborhood, Golden said in the press release.
Officials encourage residents in the area to watch water levels closely over the next 24 hours and take action to protect themselves and their property.
