LAMAR, SC (WBTW) – A single car crash killed the driver of a minivan on US-401 in Darlington County Thursday afternoon.

South Carolina Highway Patrol reports the crash happened at 3:10 p.m. Thursday when the driver of a Dodge minivan was traveling north on US-401. The driver veered off the right side of the road and struck a ditch at the round-a-bout on Lamar Highway, troopers add.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the wreck. Darlington County Coroner J Todd Hardee says Frances Quick, 73, of Bennettsville, was pronounced dead at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence following the crash.

The passenger in the vehicle was injured and transferred to McLeod for treatment, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

South Carolina Highway Patrol and Darlington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate this crash.
