A Bennettsville man will spend over three years in federal prison on a weapons charge.

According to a press release from the Department of Justice, Tommie Breda McLaurin, 36, was sentenced in federal court after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. A judge sentenced McLaurin to 46 months in federal prison.

McLaurin was arrested when authorities executed a search warrant at his home in Bennettsville. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of North Carolina and admitted to possessing a loaded pistol. That gun had listed as stolen.
