Bennettsville man arrested, accused of stealing from 14 vehicles

A Bennettsville man has been arrested and is accused of stealing from 14 vehicles.

Yuqwan Demeak Weathers was arrested by officers with the Bennettsville Police Department on Thursday for 14 counts of theft from a motor vehicle, according to a press release from Lt. Larry Turner, with the BPD. Weathers allegedly “unlawfully entered” the vehicles between December 8 and January 21.

Weathers is accused of taking items including handguns, jewelry, clothing, money and cellphones, the release said. Investigators conducted a search warrant at Weathers’ home in Bennettsville city limits and reportedly recovered several stolen items.

“We are asking for any individuals who may have purchased items from Mr. Weathers to contact the Bennettsville Police Department to verify these items were not taken from any of the break-ins,” stated the release. “The Bennettsville Police Department continues to strongly advise citizens to stay in practice of keeping your vehicle doors locked and items of value secured.”
