Belin Memorial UMC to sponsor event to increase awareness of human trafficking

Murrells Inlet, SC – RED LIGHT: An Effort to Stop Human Trafficking is sponsored by the United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men of Belin Memorial United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet. It’s a workshop to increase awareness of human trafficking.

According to International Labour Organization, 29 million people are trapped in slavery worldwide. The organization reports 80 percent of the victims are female.

Speakers expected to attend include: South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, Associate Pastor of Belin Memorial UMC Rev. Scott Johnson, Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson, and Medical Missionary to the Dominican Republic Vanessa Suggs. The workshop will be held Saturday, August 29, from 10 AM – 2 PM at the church’s Family Life Center located on 4182 Highway 17 Business in Murrells Inlet.
