BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) – Police have charged a 17-year-old in the fatal shooting of a man on a basketball court.

The Beaufort Gazette
reports the teen-age boy was arrested Sunday morning in the death of 20-year-old Matthew Horne. Police say Horne was shot and killed April 30 on the court across from the Charles Lind Brown Activity Center.

Police say the suspect in the shooting had also been arrested May 4 and charged with interfering with a police officer. They said he also pleaded guilty to receiving stolen goods valued at $10,000 or more last year in separate cases.

The teen is being held at Beaufort County Detention Center and charged with murder. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
