SURFSIDE BEACH, SC – The sights and sounds of the beach come together in a first-ever cultural event being presented by the Town of Surfside Beach from 1 – 6 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at the town’s Dick M. Johnson Civic Center, at 811 Pine Drive.

Surfs Up! Beach Art & Music Event, a free event open to the public, will feature artworks by local artists depicting life at the beach – all kinds of life – along with a live beach music backdrop provided by vocalist and keyboardist Steve Carrigan. There’ll even be “beachy” style snacks provided free of charge.

More than 40 works of art will be on display, ranging from paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolors to photography, collage, mosaic and sculpture, all featuring beach themes.

Adding to the beach theme, artistically decorated surfboards from Eternal Wave Surf Shop.

Most works will be available for sale as well as viewing. And guests at the event will get to vote for their favorite work of art, with the winning artist receiving a gift certificate to the Surf Diner on the Surfside Beach Pier.
