GREENVILLE, SC  – One person has been arrested after a 4-year-old was accidentally shot at a home on Hillside Circle, according to the Greenville Police Department.

Lydia Riley has been charged with unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person after the 4-year-old shot himself in the hand with a pistol that he grabbed from a kitchen table, police say.

They say the injury was not life-threatening.

Two other children were present during the shooting.

Police say Riley, the boy’s babysitter, was outside getting groceries from her car when the shooting occurred.

Riley turned herself in at the law enforcement center and was taken into custody with no incident.

She was being held at the Greenville County Detention Center but has been released on a $10,000 bond.
