CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Conway police say within an hour of a Conway National Bank branch being robbed Thursday morning, officers had the suspect in custody.
Lt. Selena Small with Conway police says shortly before 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning, the Conway Nation Bank, located at the corner of Cultra Road and North Main Street, was robbed. Police released a photo of the suspect and described him as a white male last seen wearing a dark shirt, ball cap and blue jeans. Police say the suspect left in a red or burgundy older-model Chevy S10 extended cab truck towards Cultra Rd.
Police identified the suspect as Roy Charles Ward, 42, of Aynor. Within an hour of first reporting the bank robbery, Conway police say officers had the suspect in custody.
Ward is charged with armed robbery and entering a bank with intent to steal. His bond has been set at $50,000, according to J. Reuben online booking records.
