Autistic boy drowns in bathtub, stepfather charged with murder

CLAYTON, GA- CBS 46 reports that a wheelchair bound 11-year-old boy has died after drowning in a bathtub at his home.

Michael Smith, the boy’s stepfather, has been charged with second-degree murder and second degree child cruelty according to CBS 46.

Smith is accused of leaving the autistic child in the bathtub alone to tend to the other three children.

CBS 46 tells us that Smith is a second grade teacher at Smith Elementary School.

The child’s mother has not been charged.
