SANFORD, N.C. – An ATV rider was killed in a head-on crash with a Lee County sheriff’s deputy early Friday morning.
It happened around 1 a.m. on East Forest Oak Drive near Ward Memorial Baptist Church in Sanford.
East Forest Oak Drive remains closed.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
Shelton McLean, 32, Sanford, died.
Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy Manuel Torres taken to hospital. His condition wasn’t immediately known.
