A man wanted by police for attempted murder and armed robbery surrendered to authorities Monday afternoon after being holed-up in a camper outside Conway.

According to Horry County Police Lt. Raul Denis, the Fugitive Task Force was attempting to serve an arrest warrant to Ronald J. Boulerice at a home on Plumber Road around 1:30 p.m. when the suspect hid inside a camper behind a warehouse.

After a 30-minute standoff with SWAT members, the suspect eventually surrendered, Denis said.

Boulerice, age 53, was wanted in a case from March 20, in which a victim was found in a roadside ditch with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head, Denis said.

The victim was in the hospital for at least a month after his injury and identified the shooter as Ronald Boulerice, according to Denis and information from an arrest warrant.

Boulerice is being held at the Horry County Detention Center where he awaits a bond hearing.
